ENPHO handed over Shredding Machine and a Vehicle to Kirtipur Municipality to Support Solid Waste Management


Under Integrated Urban Water Management Project, ENPHO, with the support of The Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) handed over a shredding machine and a vehicle to Kirtipur Municipality amid a handover program organized on 18 December 2020 at the Municipality office. With this an agreement on MOU for the full responsibility of operation and maintenance of the machine and vehicle was also signed by the municipality.

Mr. Rajendra Shrestha, Program Director at ENPHO handed over the certificate to the Mayor of the Municipality Mr. Ramesh Maharjan and expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation received from the Municipality throughout the implementation of the project activities. Amongst the attendees in the program were Deputy Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality Ms. Saraswati Khadka, Chief Administrative Officer Ms. Sita Pariyar, Coordinator of WASH Committee and Chairperson of Ward 1 Mr. Harsha Maharjan, Coordinator of Environment and Forest Committee and Chairperson of Ward 10 Mr. Aman Maharjan, Head of Water and Sanitation Unit of the Municipality Mr. Gyan Bajra Maharjan, Head of Social Development Unit of the Municipality Mr. Anuj Pradhan and other entrepreneurs working in solid waste management.


“Availability of the shredding machine and vehicle has further encouraged us to work on solid waste management in our Municipality. I would like to thank ENPHO and BORDA for this generous support in providing these resources to our Municipality,” Mayor Mr. Ramesh Maharjan shared.

“This project’s activities focus on the areas prioritized by Kirtipur Municipality. Due to this reason also, we eagerly look forward to implementing further activities and hope to achieve SDG 6 targets in Kirtipur Municipality,” Deputy Mayor of the Municipality Ms. Saraswoti Khadka said.

Furthermore, Chief Administrative Officer of the Municipality Ms. Sita Pariyar added, “I am optimistic that this project will benefit the Municipality in improving the sanitation situation, especially managing the solid waste issues. We look forward to collaborating with ENPHO in coming days as well.”

The vehicle has 702 CC engine capacity and will be used for the collection and transportation of biodegradable solid waste. Likewise, the shredding machine has the production capacity of 500 to 900 kg per hour and will be used for composting of biodegradable solid waste in the Kirtipur Municipality.
