Thank you for your interest on Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO).


For ENPHO, 2016 marks the completion of 25 successful years of service. Established on 4th November 1990, ENPHO is a service oriented, scientific, national non- governmental organization that is contributing to sustainable community development by combining research, action and support in the areas of environment and public health.


Vision: Creating Eco-Societies

Mission: Develop and promote appropriate technologies to enable societies become eco-friendly.

Goal: To support environmental study, sustainable total sanitation, hygiene practices and safe drinking water contributing to meet the national target.


ENPHO develops and promotes eco-friendly technologies such as water treatment options (e.g. chlorine solution, SODIS, filters), Rain Water Harvesting, ECOSAN toilets and waste water treatment through reed bed systems. ENPHO promotes integrated community based approaches for safe water, sustainable sanitation, solid waste management, hygiene behaviour, improving indoor air, and environmental and air quality monitoring for creating healthy and environmental friendly societies. Knowledge-based education, trainings and advocacy campaigns are provided that help achieving ENPHO’s mission.

  • Enhance knowledge on hygiene behavior and sanitation practices
  • Improve WASH preparedness in disaster management


ENPHO is governed by a General Assembly comprising of 108 members that elects an Executive Board once every three years. The Executive Director leads the 150-member staff of which 45% are women.


Selected ENPHO Volunteers/Interns will be trained and supported by us. Communication support for your volunteer/internship role will be provided when needed. We will make sure that we meet your volunteering/internship needs.
