Changunarayan municipality, Bhaktapur, Bagmati Province, Nepal is leading the “SARWACHA Project” in collaboration with ENPHO and Biruwa Advisors, under financial support from Dopper and Simavi to build a water-safe and resilient municipality. The project, which ensures the municipality’s water accessibility and quality in a sustainable and equitable manner was formally inaugurated at the municipality on September 15, 2023.
The project fosters an effective framework for private sector engagement and strategic investments along with partnerships, aligned to the municipality. Mr. Jeevan Khatri, Mayor of the municipality expresses enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Access to clean safe water is a fundamental human right. The project represents a significant step towards fulfilling our commitment to the well-being of our citizens. We anticipate that this collaboration, boosted by technical support from the project and unwavering community participation, will provide access to safe water and achieve the dream of each household having access to quality water in the municipality” Water User committees and residents of the municipality are eagerly awaiting the positive impact of the project which is expected to be completed by March 2026.
