Emergency WASH

Urban WASH Preparedness and Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction project has been initiated with an aim to reduce human suffering and loss of life during natural disasters. Through effective mass casualty management system, various projects on disaster risk reduction are being implemented with the aim to contribute towards prevention and minimization of casualties and damages. ENPHO is promoting integration of urban agriculture with sustainable sanitation as a potential climate change adaptation strategy. ENPHO is also supporting to provide WASH services, capacity enhancement and public awareness through field based activities and online platforms focusing on prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.

Enhancing Cholera Control in Nepal (ECHO- NEPAL Project)

Nepal is among the top 5 countries vulnerable to impact sanitation. Nepal faces flooding and landslide during the rainy season every year which often leads to breakdown of WASH facilities. In addition to all these factors, limited diagnosis and surveillance reporting raise the likeliness of cholera outbreaks, which may be challenging to prevent and control.

Isolation Center Support Project

This project was funded by individual donor in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and was implemented by ENPHO at mostly COVID 19 affected areas of Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

COVID-19 Response Project II

This project was funded by individual donor in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and was implemented by ENPHO at mostly COVID 19 affected areas of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Thimi Municipality and Changunarayan Municipality.

COVID-19 Response Project I

This project was funded by individual donor in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and was implemented by ENPHO at COVID 19 affected areas of Lalitpur metropolitan city and Kirtipur Municipality within valley. This project was designed to carry out COVID 19 response during the pandemic situation. The project activities led to establish and upgrade existing community level isolations centers.

Emergency COVID 19 Support- Rapid Action Task Force (C-19 RAT) Project

This project is funded by CNCA, NHCF and was led by COVID 19 Rapid Action Taskforce (C-19 RAT). With a collaborative effort of five different organizations, ENPHO on behalf of C-19 RAT was provided with responsibility of overall management for this project.

Nepal Mask: COVID-19 Response Project

“Nepal Mask: COVID-19 Response Project” was implemented at various hotspot areas of Nepal with the support of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Yale University. ENPHO and SEN, a consortium partner of C-19 RAT has executed the project collaboratively with a motive to provide data-driven, real-time insights for improving COVID-19 situation in Nepal. To trigger on behaviour change of general public for proper use of mask, the project adopted a NORM (No-cost mask distribution, Offering information, Reinforcement, Modeling) approach. The NORM approach has been tested and applied by Yale University at various parts of Bangladesh and now being adopted by various countries.

Emergency COVID-19 Support- Rapid Action Task Force Project

This project is funded by City Wide Inclusive Sanitation Technical Assistance Hub In South c/o Dev Consultants Limited and being led by Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) for implementation in partnership with two other NGOs (The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) and Biomedical Engineering Foundation Nepal (BEFON).

Hygiene and Behaviour Change Coalition (HBCC)

This project focuses on improved prevention and reduction of COVID-19 infection risk focusing on the most vulnerable regions and populations and also with other approaches.

Post-Earthquake Reconstruction WASH in Nepal (PURNIMA)

In order to provide access to safe, adequate and sustainable water supply services to the most vulnerable and excluded households of earthquake affected communities, PURNIMA project is working at the three Gaupalikas (Rural Municipalities) of southern Lalitpur: namely Bagmati Rural Municipality, Mahankal Rural Municipality, and Konjyosom Rural Municipality. In line with DFID and MM, Oxfam in Nepal has provided the financial support for the implementation of the project.
