In collaboration with Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Alliance Nepal (CWISAN), Municipal Association of Nepal (MuAN) organized ‘National Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Conclave 2023’ on 21 December 2023 at Hotel Malla, Kathmandu with the objectives of learning and sharing sanitation initiatives in Municipalities, advocate for local governments to put greater emphasis on sanitation services and accelerate the efforts in achieving SDG 6.2. More than 200 participants attended the Conclave. ENPHO as one of the members of CWISAN collaborated with MuAN and CWISAN in organizing this Conclave.

 

Deputy Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality Ms. Laxmi Maharjan highlighted regulatory framework established and implemented in the Municipality for safely managed sanitation.

 

Rajendra Shrestha, Program Director of ENPHO presented findings of ‘Landscaping of fecal sludge desludging and transportation services: Case of Terai Region and Kathmandu Valley in Nepal’.

 

The chair of the session Ms. Jyoti Joshi Bhatt, Deputy Director General of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology shared about the availability of many water and sanitation-related standards such as ISO 24521, and ISO 30500. Ms. Bhatt expressed that the Nepal Standard Body is ready to support the formulation of sanitation standards and urged all sector stakeholders to properly implement the guidelines and standards to contribute to achieving SDG 6.2.
