Why Piyush?
Even though access to basic drinking water services is increasing in Nepal, yet its safety still remains as a matter of concern. In Nepal, water used in majority of the households have shown the presence of E. Coli in them. Many of them still do not treat their water before drinking which creates threat for the occurrence of various water borne diseases, such as diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid etc. Moreover, natural disasters such as landslides, floods, earthquake which occur frequently in Nepal every year adds up the existing threat of water borne diseases due to lack of access to safe water during the disaster. Piyush has been developed as an easy option for treatment of water both during normal situation and during natural disaster, particularly to be used at household level.
