ENPHO and WASH Alliance International (WAI) with the technical support of Eco Concern Private Limited, under the WASH SDG program organized a two-days hands-on training on Water Quality Testing for the capacity building of Mini-Lab operators based in Surkhet and Banke. The training was organized at the Mini lab set at Kohalpur Small Town Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation User’s Association on 8th and 9th December, 2020.
The training enhanced the skill of participants in water sample collection, analysis and result interpretation. The training provided participants with the essentials such as how laboratory is handled, how samples are collected and analyzed for accurate representation of drinking water quality.
Prior to this, a virtual training on Laboratory Analysis of Water Samples was also organized for the Mini-lab operators on 19th, 20th, 23rd and 24th November, 2020. Attendees of the virtual program were then provided with this hands-on training.
After the completion of training, the trainees were excited to operate the instruments and analyze water sample in their own Mini-labs. Altogether 10 participants including 5 male and 5 females enthusiastically participated both the virtual and hands-on training sessions.
Understanding the importance of water quality testing services to ensure safety of drinking water, ENPHO under the WASH SDG program has established these mini-labs at four different municipalities of 2 districts : Kohalpur municipality and Baijanath rural municipality of Banke district and at Bheriganga municipality and Barahatal rural municipality of Surkhet district.
