Installation of RTI Septic Tank at Health Post of Godawari Municipality

The practice of using holding tanks and pits in the name of Septic tank has resulted to leakage of wastewater contaminating the wells, rivers and water bodies. Use of these water for household works has led to adverse effect on the heath of people.

                         
Thus, construction and use of proper Septic Tank is essential in order to prevent water contamination and environment pollution reducing health risks for people.
Considering the necessities, Godawari Municipality of Lalitpur initiated the installation and promotes Ready to Install (RTI) Septic tank in Ward 6, Lele.
Under “Pilot implementation of FSM Standard in Nepal”, ENPHO with support of BMGF and in coordination with Godawari Municipality, installed four RTI septic tank at health post of Ward -6, Godawari Municipality from 30 May to 2 June, 2022.

Furthermore, additional demonstration of four RTI septic tanks has been carried out to raise awareness among people on importance of safe containment and its impact in environment and public health.

Ready to install (RTI) Eco Septic Tank adopt container-based sanitation, where excreta is collected in sealable containers. This technology is suitable for densely populated low-income urban areas, emergency camps, and for areas with high groundwater tables.
