ENPHO, with the support of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and International Training Network-Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (ITN-BUET) is implementing the project ‘Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Scaling and Sanitation Innovation’ to catalyze achieving SDG 6.2 targets. Through effective collaboration, coordination and communication with stakeholders and regional partners, the project intends to build the capacities of relevant stakeholders to promote and implement CWIS/FSM at municipal level, across South Asia and beyond.
Under the project, a project planning meeting and FSM Lab visit was held at ITN-BUET in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 11 December, 2021. The main objective of the meeting was to share the plan of both organization under the project and conclude on the final plan to execute through the project. To this, the roles and responsibilities of each organization in the project activities along with the coordination and collaboration with related stakeholders were also discussed and finalized through the meeting.
City Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) is a holistic approach in sanitation sector and capacity building in the new concept is a foundational activity to implement it on the ground. Hence, mapping of such activity for capacity building in the sector as a whole was successfully concluded through the planning meeting.
One of the core activity of the project is to equip ENPHO lab for testing and analysis of Fecal Sludge. Thus, a visit to Faecal Sludge lab of ITN-BUET was also carried out with an objective to get familiar with the lab and equipment required for the planning and setting the lab in the organization.
Along with this, visit and meeting with Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) was held where the main objective of the project along with the details of the project and the implementation modality were discussed. To this, the advantages of the collaboration and support to the project through the agencies were also discussed.
